QuiltWORKS QuiltWORKS Logistics QuiltWORKS Application

QuiltWORKS

QuiltWORKS, offers on-site quilting workshops for individuals living in shelters, group homes, or other types of temporary housing. Each participant will make his or her own quilt to keep.

The premise is simple: If simply donating a quilt can be a source of hope, imagine what happens when someone learns quiltmaking skills to create something bright and beautiful. They may have few or no possessions, but most often they will be given a bed to put their quilt on, a bed to be their home.

Through QuiltWORKS, participants learn the basics of quilt making and how to use a sewing machine. They choose their own fabrics, if possible, by taking a field trip to a local fabric store. They measure and cut the pieces for the quilt blocks with a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat. Then they use their newly acquired sewing machine skills to sew the pieces together. Once the tops are completed, they are finished by Bright Hopes volunteers on our long arm quilting machines and returned to their makers to keep and enjoy.
